SC: Farmers to recover cane dues before banks

In a major setback to PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) banks, the Supreme Court said farmers will get precedence over banks for the recovery of cane dues, amounting to around Rs 5,440 crore, from sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh.
