India for setting up global agency to manage internet

India has called for the establishment of a global agency to manage the Internet, something along the lines of the UN’s International Telecommunications Union, as it pushes for multi-government role in formulating Internet governance rules. The key function of managing the domain name system (DNS) is in the hands of the National Telecom & Information Administration, an arm of the US Department of Commerce.
