Minimum maturity period for Masala Bonds reduced to 3 yrs

RBI reduced the minimum maturity period of offshore rupee-denominated bonds or masala bonds to three years from five years earlier. The RBI said the maximum amount which can be borrowed by an entity in a financial year under the automatic route by issuance of these bonds will be Rs 5,000 crore and not $750 million, subject to guidelines already in place.
